College Turns Quorn-tastic in Honour of National Veggie Week
28 May 2012
Walkden Sixth Form Centre last week embraced National Veggie Week by introducing some Quorn-based recipes on to its lunch time menu.
Students and staff were able to sample tikka masala, lasagne or meatball marinara sub rolls, made out of the popular meat alternative.
Quorn Chef, Margaret Hobbs, was brought in especially to create and serve the delicious dishes as well as provide further information on the range of Quorn products available; she said “Quorn is a great alternative to meat as it still provides you with essential proteins and is generally lower in fat that meat equivalents. Through sampling the recipes we have created today, I hope it highlights to people that you can still create tasty dishes that don’t contain meat!”
Salford City College is further extending the National Veggie Week celebrations by hosting its very own Quornathon on Friday 1st June, at the college’s De La Salle Centre, where students will be involved in food-based activities and free Quorn frankfurters will be given out!
