Jubilee Fever Hits Salford City College

29 May 2012

Salford City College embraced the jubilee spirit by celebrating all things British through a range of events hosted across all of their college centres.

The college’s Walkden Sixth Form Centre, Eccles Sixth Form Centre, Pendleton Sixth Form Centre, De La Salle Centre and City Campus Skills Centre threw open their doors to members of the local community as well as current students and staff, inviting them to join in the celebrations by attending their street party themed events.

All decked in union jack bunting, each centre put their own spin on the British theme, providing sandwiches, cupcakes, and hot and cold beverages for their visitors, to really get them in the mood for next week’s main event.

Marked by an extra bank holiday in the UK, HRH The Queen, celebrates her Diamond Jubilee – 60 years on the thrown –during the official Jubilee Weekend which runs between 2nd - 5th June.

Thalia Bell, Assistant Principal at Salford City College, said; “The jubilee events at the college have been a wonderful celebration of The Queen’s 60 year reign, all the centres looked really patriotic with their union jack flags flying and bunting. All of our visitors got in to the spirit of the occasion and it was great to see some of our students, as well as staff, helping out at the events. It was a great way to celebrate in the build up to the main jubilee celebrations this weekend.”
